This organization has been created to honor the lives of the four J.L.Mann High School Graduates, Justin Anderson, Emily Yelton, Travis Cale, and Taylor Cothran, who passed away in October 2007.

In an effort to celebrate their passion for life, family, and friends, the Student Government of J.L. Mann High School is dedicating Spirit Week 2008 in honor of the graduates and their families.

A partnership has been established with Greenville Habitat for Humanity whereby funds raised during October 24th through October 31st of 2008, will be used to build homes in memory of Justin, Emily, Travis and Taylor. This will give the students at J.L. Mann the opportunity to see this project through to completion. The student body will participate in the hands on construction of the Habitat for Humanity homes, for which will be built in honor of the four graduates.

Four Greenville high schools raked in more than $871,000 for local charities during weeklong spirit drives that ended Friday.

The totals for the Greenville-J.L. Mann and Wade Hampton-Eastside competitions were announced Friday night during halftime ceremonies at the two football games.

Since last Saturday, students have been raising money with dozens of events ranging from dress-up days and dances to dodge-ball games.

Wade Hampton, whose students chose Camp Spearhead as the school's spirit week beneficiary, announced a total contribution of $150,082 to the residential camp for children and adults with special needs.

Eastside, which raised $224,575, will donate its funds to the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association. The association was chosen in honor of a local family whose daughter has been diagnosed with PWS, a rare birth defect that can lead to life-threatening obesity.

Students at J.L. Mann, who announced a total of $340,043 will use the money to honor the memory of four alumni who perished in a house fire at Ocean Isle Beach last October. A new organization created by Mann students -- JETT Zone, an acronym for graduates Justin Anderson, Emily Yelton, Travis Cale and Taylor Cothran -- will donate spirit week funds to build homes for Greenville Habitat for Humanity. The student body also will participate in the construction of the homes.

Greenville High will split its $156,965 spirit week total among four local charities: Caine Halter Lungs 4 Life, which funds for cancer research; Safe Harbor, a refuge for abused women and children; Youth Base, which provides a haven for at-risk youth; and Sirrine Forever, a group that makes repairs and renovations to Sirrine Stadium.
